Record Crowds and Inspiring Performances at Tokyo’s Premier Guitar Event

This year’s Tokyo Gakki Expo 2025 marked a major milestone for Japan’s music community—and for Vola Guitars. Held this past weekend at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo, the event drew an impressive 8,571 visitors, surpassing last year’s numbers and tripling the attendance from 2023. The show also saw participation from 107 companies and organizations, up from 96 in 2024, reflecting its continuous rise as one of the country’s most influential gatherings for players, builders, and brands. Crowds from Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Chiba filled the venue, eager to explore the latest in musical craftsmanship and technology. For Vola Guitars, the response was overwhelming—the booth was constantly packed, with players eager to experience the instruments firsthand.

At the Vola booth, attention centered on the new prototype JZ FRO model with a beautiful etched metal pickguard and spring cover, which immediately became one of the event’s most talked-about guitars. Visitors were drawn to its unique look and modern edge, while the Vasti 5 STM , ZVA 5, and OZ 7 QGM J3 models also saw heavy play from musicians across genres. Many bassists gravitated toward Vola’s showcased bass models, praising their clarity, feel, and punch. Several attendees noted the comfort of the Vola necks and the sturdiness of the overall build—qualities that define the brand’s reputation for both playability and balance. The booth stayed lively throughout both days, with guitarists comparing tones, sharing feedback, and celebrating Vola’s growing impact on the global stage.

Adding to the excitement, Vola artists Mayto, Aoi Shun, and Yuta made special appearances throughout the weekend, with Mayto and Aoi Shun taking to the stage for standout performances. The two delivered powerful sets featuring original tracks like Aoi Shun’s recently released “Eyes” and Mayto’s fan-favorite “Down Strategy.” Their expressive playing showcased the versatility of Vola guitars—capable of handling everything in relation to dynamics and emotional phrasing. The booth also hosted a live stream, allowing global fans to tune in and feel part of the moment. One of the most memorable highlights came when the newly revealed custom engraved JZ FRO model was passed around the audience, letting attendees see the fine craftsmanship up close. With record-breaking attendance and a surge of new interest, Tokyo Gakki Expo 2025 proved to be Vola’s best year yet, as well as a testament to the brand’s continued innovation, artistry, and connection with players worldwide.
