I've only had the guitar a couple of weeks at writing this review. Keep that in mind.
Shipping: Was exceedingly fast. 3 days from Hong Kong (why not Japan?) Arrived in perfect condition.
The Case: Love the fact that it came with a hard shell case designed for the guitar. Fits perfectly. Love the purple(?) plush interior. Wish the pockets, or at least one of them, had a cover. Would help keep things contained while the case is open. Ya know, the case won't always be opened flat, or on the floor. But that is a small inconvenience for getting such a nice case.
The Guitar: Beautiful. Could end the review right there. Nicely tiger striped top, altho' the grains aren't matched that well, yet still strikingly beautiful. Really like the clear pickguard. All of the components feel solid, top notch. The pickups are unexpectedly clean and clear. Not sure why I thought they wouldn't be, but they are. Lots of definition even when driven hard. I really like the sound of the pickups "unsplit", as well as split. Gets a sort of vintage 3 coil sound when split, and a bit of modern 3 coil when not split. Really don't notice too much with the "Add Front Pickup" feature. And altho' it seems cool, haven't felt the "Bypass Tone" button adds that much. Nice idea, maybe I just don't know how/when to use that. The neck is a lot thinner than I had expected. Not quite used to it, yet. And, it's a bit wider than I'm used to. There's some "getting used to it" there, as well. All in all, it's a great guitar. And for the $$$'s, its hard to beat. This isn't just a shred machine, so I hope Vola doesn't get type cast that way. The OZ is a very versatile guitar. I've been doing country on it. Will use it on my bands next home recordings (hard rock and prog-ish). All in all, super happy. It's a keeper, for sure.
