Adam Phillips

Adam Michael Phillips has spent his life immersed in music. Born in New York in 1980 and raised by classical guitar soloist Dr. Robert Phillips, he grew up surrounded by serious players and serious sound. By the time he was 11, the guitar had become his main focus, and it’s been that way ever since. After studying at Nassau BOCES Long Island High School for the Arts, he moved to Central Florida and hit the ground running—touring nationally by 19 and landing in bands that weren’t afraid to get weird. One of those was Indorphine, a chaotic blend of metal and comedy that played everywhere from CBGB to the Whiskey a Go-Go. Since then, Adam’s played with a wide range of artists, including Ryan Weaver, hardcore legends Pro-Pain, and his experimental project IAMASI.
Phillips spent nearly a decade with Pro-Pain, touring extensively across Europe and South America and playing massive festival stages alongside icons like Slayer, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, and Ozzy Osbourne. His writing and solo work can be heard on three of the band’s albums, each showcasing his raw, aggressive tone and fearless phrasing. He’s also picked up Orlando Music Awards for both Best Live Act and Best New Act, and has been featured in Guitar World, Rock Hard Magazine, Orlando Weekly, and Volume Magazine—the latter spotlighting his long-time friendship with fellow Floridian Mark Tremonti. He’s played legendary venues across the globe, and performed at major festivals across more than 20 countries. His sound blends metal, funk, blues, and avant-garde influences, pulling inspiration from artists like Buckethead, Philip Glass, and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. No matter the project, Adam plays with a mix of chaos and control that’s entirely his own.
Adam’s signature guitar, the Vola OZ 24 AP Supernova, is a direct extension of that approach—bold, unpredictable, and built for the long haul. It’s got 24 frets, an Evertune bridge, a unique Atom inlay, and comes stock with custom Vola pickups: a VHC humbucker in the neck and a Fire Ice humbucker in the bridge. Designed in-house with a gripping amount of power, the two pickups offer a balanced, rounded tone that holds up no matter how far Adam pushes the sound. His signature model is the result of a longstanding relationship with Vola—one built on mutual respect, shared passion, and a drive to keep evolving. It marks a proud milestone in his journey, but it’s far from the finish line. With a brand new Indorphine EP in progress and plans to release a solo EP that pushes his playing into new territory, there’s plenty more on the horizon.
