Tokyo Gakki Expo 2024
Between November 2nd and 3rd, Vola Guitars proudly showcased some of its finest guitars at Japan’s ever-growing Tokyo Musical Instrument Expo.
For the second consecutive year, the expo has served as a hub for discovery, drawing both emerging and established brands. With nearly 10,000 attendees, this year’s event was a clear success. As eager guests began arriving at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Chiyoda Ward, the halls soon filled with excited, curious chatter.
The Vola Guitars booth was situated in the heart of the excitement. Musicians and collectors from Tokyo and neighboring prefectures like Chiba, Saitama, and Kanagawa visited the booth, including a blend of professional artists and young guitarists—some of whom had already performed on stage at the event. One of the standout models was the OZ Keene Machine. With its sleek design and powerful sound, it attracted a host of metal players eager to test it with their unique styles. Many reviews praised the neck profile’s comfort and the guitar’s overall balance.
A diverse collection of staple guitars and signature models filled the display. From a distance, two distinct flamed maple tops in Tribal Red and Sapphire Blue from the OZ RV TNC series caught the light, proudly gleaming side-by-side. To their left, the OZ Supernova stood with its solid Evertune bridge. Further along, the classic aesthetic of the OZ JRM J2, with its Olympic White finish and pearloid pickguard, made a striking impression. Bookending the other side of the booth was the towering Vasti 5 STM J1 bass, drawing in those who favored the deep satisfaction of low frequencies. The variety on display gave attendees a comprehensive look at our catalog.
One of the most exciting elements of our involvement was the opportunity to announce that we have partnered with Gakki Engine of Nippon, or GEN for short. This notable organization is pivotal in promoting the manufacturers of guitars and basses made in Japan. Taking great pride in their craft, many individual guitar makers and guitar brands participate. Alongside them, several students from luthier vocational schools also participated in this event and helped in its day to day operations. In this way, GEN is also committed to nurturing successors in the industry. We are honored to be working alongside them to emphasize the musical creativity and artistry that is taking place in Japan.
This burgeoning exposition has proven itself for the second consecutive year, bringing new promise to experience the latest cutting-edge musical innovations. With nearly 100 unique exhibitors and almost triple the attendance of last year, this Tokyo-based trade show is paving the way to inspire the next generation of musicians. The Vola team left feeling motivated and encouraged, ready to continue our mission of providing high-quality instruments at affordable prices. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited our booth and supported our vision. Until next year, we wish you all the best on your musical journey!
