Mayto

Mayto, a guitarist and songwriter from Mie Prefecture, Japan, has developed a reputation for her expressive and melodic style. Influenced by artists like Edward Van Halen, Paul Gilbert, and John Petrucci, she started on piano before picking up the guitar at 14. In 2018, she co-founded the all-female band HAGANE, where she played guitar and sang backing vocals until 2023. During her time with the band, they released the EP Episode 0, the single Labradorite, and their debut album Code;9021. The band’s music, a blend of power metal and melodic rock, highlighted Mayto’s ability to move between intricate lead lines and heavy riffs.
Alongside her band work, Mayto has built a strong presence as a solo artist, sharing covers and original compositions on her YouTube channel. She’s reinterpreted songs like “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin and “Champagne” by Polyphia, while also contributing guitar work to the anime Yojo Shacho. Recently, she’s been working with the project Mana Diagram, continuing to explore her style through new collaborations and recordings.
Mayto’s connection with Vola Guitars runs deep. She plays the OZ ROA MC and the Ares FR QM in Faded Sky Blue Gloss — guitars that match her style and sound. The OZ model’s SSH pickup layout and coil tap function allow her to move between clean, sparkling tones and gritty leads, while the Ares model, with its Floyd Rose bridge and HH pickups, handles the heavier, more intense side of her playing.
